The body may use cell division as a conventional means of growth and repair. When there is no need for more female offspring cells, healthy cells cease proliferating, but cancer cells continue to divide. Cancer cells divide uncontrollably, producing solid tumours or infiltrating the bloodstream with aberrant cells. These alterations, as well as the molecular networks that control cell proliferation, differentiation, and death, are studied in cancer biology. Medical specialisation refers to the study of various types of cancer.
